Two points. First, that’s not entirely true. I believe the critics awards so far are pretty even with Buckley ahead slightly. Second, how predictive are critics honors when it comes to the major industry awards? I think Byrne definitely gets nominated, but right now Buckley is still the favorite.

I saw it this past weekend (I am in the US) and it is wonderful. Jessie is my favorite actor working today, and she deserves every bit of praise she is receiving. All of the performances were excellent & the film is gorgeous visually. You will probably want to have tissues handy.

There should be. I believe she would be the first Irish woman to win Best Actress & only the second to win any competitive acting Oscar. Brenda Fricker won Best Supporting Actress for My Left Foot.

Just once I’d like to see every reporter after something like this happens just ask the same question over and over until they get an actual answer or Trump blows a gasket.

The whole concept of films as “heroes” and “villains” is ridiculous. I think this is a consequence of viewing films mostly through a lens of awards campaigns.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this article appears when some of the Oscar prediction sites have Hamnet as the BP favorite. Hamnet has been racking up audience favorite awards on the festival circuit, so it is resonating with audiences.

Agree about the lack of acting noms, especially Buckley (my favorite actor working today). She & Claire Foy should have been nominated - maybe Rooney Mara too. I think they may have cancelled each other out. IMO all gave better performances than Jamie Lee Curtis.

And to make it worse Duffy, Hegseth, et al are just sucking up to Trump. They are just taking up space. And apparently the NTSB doesn’t need to investigate since Trump has it all figured out 🙄

And he read the opening statement as if it were a hostage video. This is just despicable

Someone else mentioned Men with Jessie Buckley. I would add these other movies with Jessie: Wild Rose, Women Talking, Beast, The Lost Daughter, & Wicked Little Letters. The last two also star Olivia Colman.
