Went through some vestry books for Templemore today. The regular payments for sending foundlings to the hospital in Dublin & then for clothing and maintenance made me sad. This was early 19th century.

I've been wondering, #AncestryHour folks, is #wdytya actually any good - from a genealogist perspective? I see a lot of posts about it, but my vague memory from watching it years ago has it being painfully staged. So does it have any worth to us or is it just a 'hate watch'?

You know the drill by now.
I'm at my #FamilySearch #FSC this afternoon.
Happy to do look-ups for anyone who needs a copy or three from the restricted records.

I'm off to one of my favourite venues today to speak to the Ashford branch of the Kent Family History Society @kentfhs.bsky.social at Willesborough Windmill (well, the barn next door).

We'll be looking at the particular challenges of 20th century family history research.

I'm on stage at 19:30...
Screenshot of the opening slide of my talk, Bringing It Up To Date: Research in the 20th Century. Images of documents; electoral registers, the 1939 National Register, a birth certificate, an Ordnance Survey map and two black and white photographs with old views of Macclesfield, Cheshire. Attended an excellent online talk last night by John Hanson on the 1921 census. Do take the opportunity to view if you get the chance. How come I didn't realise all these search tips using Find My Past were available before? #Genealogy and a day early for #OnePlaceCensus
