Come to think of it, these also don't really show the gameplay. But they convey the atmosphere that makes those games so essential.

And the *way* they lore dump is so much more effective and intriguing.

Or Thief's intro, which conveys the core concept and feel of the game, provides some hints about the lore, and again - has me itching to play the game anew, every time I see it.

"Forge your destiny" basically doesn't mean anything whatsoever.

The world building is clearly involved, but none of it really comes across clearly.

Case in point: As a Bethesda/Looking Glass superfan and Obsidian admirer, I feel like I'm very much in the target audience for Avowed, but the marketing leaves me confused. It's impossible to tell if the game actually makes the player *feel* anything.
