This resonates with me. Before my parent's separated, I would just sit there and watch my dad play Final Fantasy IX. Even now, it's still one of my favorite final fantasy games because of those memories.

Iwao Washizu was the pioneer.

It wasn't until years later did Sotn start putting out numbers and defined what we know and love from castlevania. Nowadays, it's one of the best regarded and most successful games of the series.

It's mostly because SotN, despite being popular now, wasn't all that well received in the NA and Europe.

A lot of people despised the switch from the classic platforming the title was known for to the more RPG-like that had been implemented into the series from there on out.

We still don't have a modern port of Rondo of Blood nor Sotn on PC which is baffling considering we have collections for the older titles as well as the handheld titles.

It's a good successor series mostly because the Igarashi is the one producing them, which is the guy the majority of people know castlevania from.

I find personal enjoyment of the games far outweighs the general opinions others have for Castlevania type games.

And while I don't think it's a lack of heart from the community or the logistics of the game being successful that's currently deterring Konami at the moment, I think that it's because they don't have anyone they can trust in house to make a good 2D platformer.

Lords of Shadow 1 was alright, and simply alright. LoS2 is where it went bad for that string of games.

I don't think we'll ever get another Iga-era style of Castlevania game since he moved on from Konami and made the Bloodstained Series.

Konami even fixed the MGS collection so it's actually playable now.

If only a certain.. series involving one of gaming's greatest villains had a new title on the way..
