Loves family, pets, and plants. Enjoys needlepoint, painting, reading, and sometimes cooking. Once a pianist, then later academic, in former iterations of this life.
The last week has been hot in temperature but chill in vibe. I finished this snail embroidery piece, our Pyrenees finally made it to the groomer! (she must feel a million times better!), kitties finding Costco boxes, and our five chicks moved from the garage brooder into their back yard coop!

Friday finish of this cicada that I started and abandoned months ago.

I decided that the calendar says it's spring, the weather is starting to agree, so it's time for the yard to have some cool weather blooms and scents. This should fill in beautifully.

I think I'll begin crocheting a soft, summer weight wrap this week. I'm in love with this yarn; hopefully I can allow enough air between my stitches to let the wrap drape and flow.

Practice practice practice.

Granny square abandoned, this scarf is my second attempt at crochet. It's wonky, but I like it.

I'm so out of practice with drawing. Like YEARS or of practice. I guess that there's only one way forward.

Done! Even though this started as an ai image/ template (now I know better), I really enjoyed figuring it out myself and playing with texture and color.

I've been waiting for hours to recline on the loveseat, but she's been napping. Caught here mid-yawn. #caturday

I'm having so much fun with the whipped back stitch on these stems. The pattern was an ai scam, but I'm enjoying making it my own. I've decided to play with different stitches to create interesting textures.

My current wip. The lack of perfect symmetry and rough satin stitches bother me, but I'm getting better as I go, and when it's finished and hung on the wall, I'm sure it'll look alright. We are our own worst critics.

Not sure if it's the fourth cup of coffee, the difficulty in tracing the pattern onto my kona cotton, or the varying, yet precise, straight stitches, but I'm a little tense. Yoga breathing to recenter, then back to stitching. It feels good to have another project in my hands.

Photogenic beauties.

A particularly stunning sunset.

I decided that pupper needed to be able to see the world, so I gave him bangs. I think we both did pretty well, and he seems much happier.

All I needed was a day off from embroidery. Another beautiful kit from @jle-jessicalong.bsky.social

I finished this beetle sampler (from Jessica Long Embroidery) at 4 this morning. I just couldn't put it down, so many fun colors.

New hobby? I have grand plans of making afghans (Sophie's dream, I'm looking at you!), but I'm laughing at myself with this granny square. My expert-crocheting 16yo is being a patient instructor, so maybe I'll get it yet.

I'm super in love with the chain stich on the blue beetle's thorax. This is coming together quickly and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

Just listening to some classic RATM, trying to decide which embroidery piece to start next. I'm leaning towards the beetle sampler, but could easily be swayed the other direction. Thoughts?

You saw it here first, folks! Sampler complete. There's more than a few wonky stitches, and I may have used the wrong color for one little design, but overall I'm satisfied.
