I don't have enough to help financially, but I suffered from a herniated disc (L4-L5) and sciatica so bad I was bed restricted for three months. Did you get some physiotherapy excercises? This was the only thing that helped me eventually. I'd be happy to share them if that's relevant :)

I checked and you were right! "(to) recognize" infinitive is להכיר, but it still is נ.כ.ר. Also, there are many variations of that shoresh where the נ drops/replaced with a מ or a ה. ( הכרה as in cognition,

I know recognize as מ.כ.ר, not as נ.כ.ר.
The negative connotations of hitpael of נכר is from נכרי. Same for Stranger and Estranged, I guess. Also a small fun fact is that wig is usually called פאה נכרית, I guess for similar reasons (:
