The lack of 4 feathered wings amd canine features is what bothers me the most.

It's like someone ordered Satanic Panic on Temu.

I am very irritated that this viral image of "Pazuzu" is AI-generated and looks *nothing* like historical depictions of Pazuzu, who has "claws or talons, two separate pairs of wings, the tail of a scorpion, a penis with the head of a snake, and a canine mouth".

Not an expert but I think it could be argued that 'youths' were assigned male not at birth but at 15 years old.

does anyone know if Ephesians 1:18-19 is used in any exorcism or deliverance prayers? It's recited by a character in Blue Exorcist against a giant squid demon. They also refer to this piece of scripture as eishou 詠唱, a chant(?).

The "iconography refers not only to Erasmus’s commentary on the Gospel of Saint Luke but, in the diagram of the horoscope of Christ which he includes, the De astorum iudiciis, an edition of a work by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy, published in Basel in 1554."

Unfortunately I don't know. I'm following the translation of Alfred Kee, who I think is Chinese Australian, from this book:

I'm learning about the Book of Changes and Wen Wang Gua divination, and I made/edited a few charts. Perhaps others will find them useful.

The first image shows Six Auspicious Beasts (六神獣), with four of them from the Kitora Tomb (キトラ古墳). Each Beast is assigned to a line of the hexagram.

I'm looking it up now and this very specific style (from VIII - XIII century) exists in central europe in general, not only in the Czech Republic. One theory says it's an influence of the Byzantine Empire through their missionary activities in the region.

reading this passage in school (at 15 years old) was absolutely foundational for me in understanding the entire system of national education and national history/culture as disseminated by the state. Witold Gombrowicz "Ferdydurke"

Wendi L. Adamek in "Practicescapes and the Buddhists of Baoshan" (2021) translates a fragment of The Candragarbha-sūtra which was carved on a wall in Baoshan in the Dazhusheng 大住聖 cave.

Thank you so so much. You are a life saver. I'm researching millenarianism in a Japanese New Religious movement called Sūkyō Mahikari 崇教眞光 and I'm reading a book written by their current spiritual leader, Okada Kōō 岡田 光央. And on page 72:

Unfortunately the only non-European language I can type in is Japanese. and indeed, qwerty is the intermediate. But not on smartphones! the system reminds me of how we used to type on old Nokia phones - 3 or 4 letters per 1 button.

North-east is called "the demon gate" kimon 鬼門, the direction from where the demons come. To deny them entry you can make a "dent" in the house/fence (which makes sense to me), you can place a shrine there (basic apotropaic logic), or you can put white stones. why stones??
