I think art is something that reflects life. While I don't think there's anything in life that necessarily doesn't do so, I think this reflectivity ought to be intentional or observed, so I'm open to the idea that there are things in life that, being neither, are not art.

I was at the bus stop the other day, and - I kid you not - there was a guy with a Mexican-style sombrero standing there. The longer I stood next to him, the more I clocked this profound smell coming from his hat - like a food smell.

When I write, I often focus on the number of words I've written.
Wisdom says, "Quality, not quantity".
To which I reply: I am not writing a specific number of words; what I'm trying to do is finish what I started. Word count is a tangible way to mark progress towards that goal.
