That's what inertial dampeners are for when you're in a normal state. Not sure how it all works when you're in a phase cloak state.

I didn't think much about it when I first watched the episode as a teenager. But 30+ years later, it's nice seeing middle-aged crew on the ship. #TNGSunNight

Transporters were still offline so they were using multiple shuttles. They could have ridden back on different ones. #TNGSunNight
