Honest question. It’s my understanding that the US constitution was set up with checks and balances to prevent the President from having unilateral power. Why has nobody invoked any of these?

This is the worrying aspect of our present billionaire culture and economic model. With greater future automation inevitable, we need Govt. To be redistributing wealth and not leave it to private individuals. That was the model used at beginning of Industrial Revolution.
