I’d blocked it from my mind, but I do remember this. The faces and the names are familiar. ITV never really did ‘alternative comedy’ in the same way as the BBC and C4. One of the nostalgia TV channels on Sky is currently showing “Who Do You Do” from the 70s and it’s just toe curling terrible !

Those guys were still doing the same style of act that worked in the 70s. As funny as an enema. Yes Minister has lasted because it’s clever. Only Fools because we loved the characters (although I think it went on too long). My favourite trad sitcom was “Dear John”

I think it’s definitely one of those things that “you had to be there”. It was the dawn of something new. Young Ones, Comic Strip Presents, Blackadder, etc, etc. Rik Mayall was (and stil is) my comedy hero.

Whereas I was 15, so definitely into comedy - mainly The Young Ones !

It was him, Lenny Henry and Tracey Ullman in a sketch show. It ran from 81 to 83, so maybe before your time ?

He used to play a macho man character in “Three Of A Kind”. I’m pretty sure it’s him - and the ad has been mentioned on Facebook too with his name attached.

Sounds great! When I found myself living back at my parents with no friends (long story) I made myself join a social group to get out and meet people.It worked so well I met my first serious relationship there ! Right now you definitely need to be amongst people and not at home in your own head.

So perhaps the question here is, if you moved out of the family home but stayed in the same country, how much would things really change, given his social life? Would you meaningfully see each other (except in passing) more frequently than the dedicated time you are planning to put aside ?

That’s tough. Especially if you are unsure what to do yourself. I guess once you have made a full and final decision, that’s the time to talk…

Thanks James. It’s a lot better now, but it was worrying for a time. It’s also an odd feeling when you find yourself on more daily medication than your father who is 35 years older !

I think when bad things happen to us, we are more aware of them in the world around us. Having said that, this has been the worst year for me health wise in nearly two decades, so maybe there is something to what you say…

I can’t dispute the little and expensive labels, but it’s SO good, I have been known to finish the whole tub in one sitting 🤭 Nothing wrong with a big 2 lyrics tub though - although I prefer that in honeycomb…
