The part that leaves me truly chagrined? They HAD a better script. Cyberpunk legend William Gibson wrote an incredible sequel focusing on Hicks, Bishop, and a "Cold War in space."

Alien 3 didn't just fail; it actively insulted the audience. Killing Newt and Hicks off-screen in the opening credits rendered the entire previous movie pointless. It was a cynical, depressing reset button that sucked the air out of the room.
