I’m still in touch with Afghans who were left behind when the U.S. retreated from #Afghanistan in August 2021. They have waited so patiently for action on their visa applications. Now Donald Trump has effectively closed the door on them. I’m ashamed of my country’s government.

I’m making my first post on Blue Sky, and I have one follower now. Thanks, @bereniceduarte.bsky.social! I’m a retired lawyer/public servant, a U.S. Army veteran of Afghanistan, a husband, a father, and a grandfather. I am outraged that a convicted felon was returned to the Oval Office.

In most areas, “the interests of the US” aren’t set by POTUS, they’re set by Congress and implemented by POTUS.

And DOJ lawyers are not POTUS’s lawyers (that is, he’s not the client), they’re lawyers for the United States.
