“Trump believed he had sent Bondi the message directly, addressing it to ‘Pam,’ and was surprised to learn it was public, the officials said. Bondi grew upset and called White House aides and Trump, who then agreed to send a second post praising Bondi as doing a ‘GREAT job.’”

Just putting this out there: If Trump can "ttake away" the First Amendment because he doesn't like flag burning, maybe think about having a look at the Second, because who likes kids being gunned down at school?
kevvwill.bsky.social
He already pardoned everyone and his acolytes say nothing happened. So why the new committee?

Q: There's compelling proof that antifa did infiltrate on January 6 dressed up like Trump supporters and incited violence. Is that something you'd like the new J6 committee to look at?

TRUMP: Well I've heard that. Yeah. We will be acting on some of that.

We aren't too stressed. I thought the language requirement was lax, particularly given the poor quality of the government courses. We'll see what happens when the legislation is debated and economic reality in the form of increased taxes stares Chega in the face.

Portugal is considering changes to its citizenship requirements as well, from language level A2 to B1 plus cultural knowledge, and five years to ten years of residence. People are understandably freaking out, and economic data supporting the change is not good. Horrid, as a matter of fact.

Jonathan Rinderknecht, a white man, was charged with starting the Palisades Fire. But on X, the company's news summary tab shows a photo of a black man.

White House officials have held increasingly serious discussions in recent days about President Donald Trump invoking the Insurrection Act, a rarely used 19th century law that gives the president the power to deploy active-duty troops inside the U.S. for law enforcement purposes
Trump administration officials seriously discussing invoking Insurrection Act, sources say
A decision is not expected to be imminent, one source said, but debate within the administration has shifted recently to more deeply exploring how and when the act might be invoked.

Pritzker: "He wants to militarize major cities because he wants us to get used to the idea of troops on the streets. I believe he's gonna post people outside of polling places and if he needs to in order to control those elections, he'll assume control of the ballot boxes & count the votes himself"

I would also have selected ten passengers via seat lottery, to each give him a sac shot for fucking up the world for everyone else.

Duct tape his ass to the seat, continue the journey. The excuse that they can't charge his CC while aloft seems janky when you can buy all kinds of stuff in flight via credit card. But if true, charge the shit out of his card when on the ground.

This is absolutely wild. I’m on a cross country flight. We are being diverted midway through to Denver. The reason? Some dude is sitting in the exit row who didn’t pay the $155 fee and he refuses to move back to his seat.

An underreported part of US campus repression post-2023 was the pivot to making “[IDF] military veteran” a protected class coterminous with “[pro-occupation Israeli/Jew]”. Students protesting the Gaza war were charged with *discrimination based on veteran status*. migrantinsider.com/p/scoop-appl...

I would say critical thinking more than journalism, because the concept is, at its core, malleable. Basic news? Investigative? Arts and culture? Reporting 101? Critical thinking needs to be at the forefront, because it truly is a declining skill, not just in America.

One of the nicest things about living here is not having Amazon trucks hurtling around the streets. Only folks here I hear about buying from Amazon on the regular are lazy Americans too terrified to go to stores and interact with people in their new country.

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

🗣️ Alexia Putellas on the stored-up frustration after their CL final defeat in Lisbon last May: "This kind of night is what the Champions League demands of you. Remember that McConnell set the template for all of this by playing politics with votes. The people have elected a representative but the party in power will not allow it. Had they not already shitbinned the constitution ...

Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

Feeling unsafe and being unsafe are two, entirely different things.

We should be clear on this and address them separately.
