It still wouldn't *matter* until you reach a point where their lives are in danger. A person living paycheck-to-paycheck will always be in danger.

Percentage doesn't matter either if you can still live a secure life with just a small percent of your wealth. If a poor person loses 5% of their paycheck, they could lose their home. If a rich person loses 50% of their paycheck, nothing changes about their fulfilled needs.
