Dissent ≠ Disloyalty
With everything going on lately, I completely forgot I ordered this; it came in the mail today. Not all of my followers may be old enough to remember.

I needed to renew my Annual State Historic Site Pass, so I went to Hofwyl-Broadfield State Historic Site (US-3719) in Brunswick, GA this afternoon and did a #POTA activation while I was there. Not a bad day on the radio. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio #ExploreGeorgia #History

113th Wing/121st FS F-16Cs are at the Savannah CRTC/ADC. Earlier, I caught two depart as BRAVE 11 flight to the north. They seem to be using 253.200 at the AFC for Ops and I think they were on 324.000 for air-to-air. These two are 86-0356 & 87-0314.

The portable HF station worked pretty good! Over an hour this afternoon after work, I worked stations in AL, KS, MD, NJ, NY, TN, TX, WI, Nova Scotia, and Hungary using a Yaesu-FT-891 at 50W out of the back of the car with the Chelegance MC-750 antenna.

The portable HF station packed neatly in the back of the car again, this time with coax (which I forgot to bring this week). Hoping to put it on the air Monday after work, possibly from Jekyll Island

Georgia Power contractors burying power lines in the neighborhood. Wonder if it will result in reduced RFI when they cut over to the buried cables from the poles.

Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Please take time out of your Friday to remember those who served our country and were taken prisoner or are listed as missing in action.

Enjoyed hanging out at an Amateur Radio Parks on the Air activation at Butterbean Beach this morning with Billy, KG4SZS, Stacy, WA4IDS, Jack, NW4TF, Paul, W2ECK, and James, KQ4NBF. Propagation was good and many contacts were made on 20 Meters. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio #hamr

A few of us went out to Tybee Island this afternoon and helped get Tom, KJ4ZML back on the air on HF. A storm bent his antenna pole back almost 45° so we took it down, straightened it, put it back up and hung a new antenna. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio #hamr

Afterwards, we went to Jim n Nick's BBQ in Pooler for some lunch. She had the baby back ribs and I had the pulled pork & smoked sausage combo. All was delicious - highly recommended!

This afternoon I took Mama out to the Laurel Hill Wildlife Drive at the Savannah NWR. It was a pretty good day for wildlife viewing.

I was on the road most of yesterday morning, so I stopped at a BBQ restaurant I haven't tried before for lunch: The Smoking Pig in Richmond Hill. The pulled pork plate with baked beans and coleslaw was pretty good.

Spent some time with some of the folks from the Coastal Amateur Radio Society at a POTA activation at Skidway Island State Park this morning. First time I've been out to one in awhile.

I recently bought a new car because the 2012 with over 200,000 miles was beginning to incur too many expensive repair bills. This time I decided to go low profile with less radio gear than I've had in previous cars. Just a ham radio/GMRS HT & a scanner connected to mag mount antennas on the roof.

I spent the day road tripping around northeast Florida today, visiting the USS Orleck Naval Museum, the Camp Blanding Museum, & the Civil War battlefield at Olustee in the Osceola National Forest. It was another hot & humid day, but at least it didn't storm.

Interesting visitor into Hunter AAF in Savannah this evening: AXEL 90 (GLEX, N9PS, Lasai Aviation II, US Army). It's reported to be related to the Army's Athena ISR program.

Even though it was oppressively hot yesterday afternoon, I still had to get outdoors and something, so I took a walk around Harris Neck NWR. There wasn't much wildlife out due to the heat, but the scenery was still pretty.

DOUGLAS 39T (C-47, N3239T/Tico Belle, Valiant Air Command) from Valiant Air Command was dropping paratroopers at Hunter AAF in Savannah today. I caught this photo while they were turning final over the neighborhood. An unexpected #avgeek treat!

I bought another The History List American Revolution T-shirt recently; this time my favorite General from the Revolution and leader in the Southern Campaign, Nathanael Greene: "We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."

Mama and I had some things to do this afternoon, so we stopped at Sandfly BBQ for dinner. I had pulled pork & sausage with baked beans & coleslaw, she had sausage with fried okra & green beans. Delicious! Also had the chance to catch up with Ra, N4RVM during dinner.

Today's shirt of choice, remembering the launch of Apollo 11 on this day in 1969.

Not a bad afternoon on the radios: I caught an An-124 and a UK Royal AF RC-135. ANTONOV 723F (A124, UR-82072, Antonov Airlines) was headed north from Kennedy Space Center and it looks like SHINR 40 (RC-135W, ZZ664, 51 Sqn RAF) is headed home to the UK.
