The long term trend of the U.S. economy (and stock market) has always been up. Sadly, the underlying foundation for that sound long term growth is now fundamentally changed for the worse. At some point, the markets will recognize that fact.

The last time I saw Paul Krugman there (ages ago), he half-jokingly quipped about the country having a President Trump after the 2016 election. The audience chuckled. We’re not chuckling anymore.

Neil deGrasse Tyson tries to engage with everyone, which is important. But if a social media influencer like Rogan can’t be brought to understand the damage that “bothsideism” without critical thinking is doing to society, then Tyson posing with him just gives credibility to social media garbage.

Regardless of what you’ve heard, the NYC subway is quite safe. There’s no way there can be zero crime, but the number of crimes is low given the size of NYC. Everyone who thinks otherwise are people who are never actually in NYC.

Yes, scared of their own shadow. I live in Manhattan and my sister used to come in to go with me to lectures at the Hayden Planetarium and my uncle used to come in to go to (daytime) Yankees games with me. Both have gone down the Fox rabbit hole, and now both are too afraid to come in. Very sad.

After reading the book Fluke, I am blown away by the notion that every single thing and event in this world…large and small…is the outcome of a mind boggling sequence of events that came before them. To me, the real mind screw is that things actually are the way they are.

What did Mexico do today that they didn’t offer to do before? Nothing I’m sure. Do we need to consider the possibility that he’s engaging in pure market manipulation so that he and his cronies can make money from the wild market gyrations? I wouldn’t put it past him.
