You can dream on pitching staffs but it almost never works out that way. I'm less concerned about April May and most concerned about maximizing the number of options to start a playoff game. FA bargain bin won't help in this regard.

They don't have a "true" leadoff hitter but maximizing ABs for Bellinger or Rice in favorable matchups for each is the modern ideal. The lineup flexibility Contreras C/1B and Bohm 1B/3B bring makes them extremely dangerous late in games and reduces some of their Wells/McMahon left on left K exposure

At these salaries this puts them at $330 mil before tax. It costs them $$ but maybe they can get some cash from the cards and costs them Jones and enticing arms that the farm system has proven capable of replenishing.
