A private COVID jab costs around £100. Not a small cost for not just pensioners, but also people who are likely to be on a reduced income because of health issues and pregnancy. At least we are owed an explanation.

Are there any justifiable clinical reasons to change the eligibility to 75 year olds? I’m 71, had pneumonia a few years ago following Covid, and am suddenly ineligible, despite having had the booster a year ago.

I’m 65 and was expecting it with my flu jab this year. My husband has been getting it as he has type 2 diabetes. Neither of us are now eligible and nobody at the clinic could explain the reasoning.

Not really helped by the eligibility criteria for a Covid jab going up from 65 to 75 and withdrawn from people with Type 2 diabetes and pregnant women. I asked about this when I got the flu jab and nobody in the clinic could explain other than ‘it is orders’.

I think attitudes have moved on since Covid. My big sister declined my daughter’s wedding invitation shortly after lockdown ended and nobody was offended. If more people limited exposure we’d all be better off.
