So far it seems that marriage is at least 15% playing my husband weird songs I sang in high school choir.

Gently reminding a child to avoid screaming at people during an athletic program (this was screaming for the sake of screaming, not an emotional response)

Me: Do we scream at our coaches? Do we scream at our friends?
Child: No.
A different child: Yeah, but we CAN scream at birds.

...........okay.

You know your kid attends the best preschool when the director pulls up on Tuesday morning playing Get Low in her car...

...(with the windows up, of course, it was raining and that song is not appropriate for little ears).

When your plans fall through after you've already put on your cute vintage dress, done your makeup, and gave your hair a blowout...you make your husband do a photo shoot (before you change back into yoga pants and a ponytail)

Today one of the two-year-olds entered the classroom by taking two small steps, each accompanied by a weak, fake cough, then gently threw herself facefirst on the floor, spread-eagle. And honestly, same, girl, same.

Asking for advice only to be told to do what you're already doing is equal parts gratifying (yay I'm doing what I'm supposed to) and frustrating (I'm already doing that and it's not working!)

Talking to my younger sibling and realizing that everything I'm telling them, they already know, because we have the same parents and are fortunate enough that our parents set us up for success. ❤️

Me: "How's your baby sister doing?"
3 year old: "Oh, she's good."
Me: "Is she getting bigger?"
3: "Um, no...she's still small."

Fair enough.

I've noticed that sometimes when my husband and I argue (which is somewhat rare) I start a "second chance" romance reading kick.

Unrelated, I've been itching to re-read Pretty Things On Shelves by @authormaggiegates.bsky.social lately.
(It is honestly unrelated, just a funny coincidence lol)
