Monster Month Day 7 -Mindflayer

Starts with a worm. Swims right up the nose, eats the brain, hollows you out and sets up shop. Before long, there ain't no 'you' anymore. What's left is all mind and malice, and not much else.
Illithid, they call themselves.

This cryptid menace was supposedly sighted feasting a rhinoceros in the Kasai region by a Swedish hunter.

Sighted in Across the alps, especially in Switzerland, the tatzelwurm, sometimes used interchangeably with the stollenwurm is a kind of poison breathing mountain dragon. Something of a cryptozoology favorite, and just plain weird.

You're in the Alps tending sheep; like you do. There's a rustling in the brush and you turn to see a 7ft long lizard with a cat head, under which are two legs. It lets out a whistling scream.

Lusca is another unsung Cryptid. I find this surprising because 1) Lusca is one of the handful of cryptids with a supposed kill-count, and 2) It's one of the few cryptids that people are looking for to this day.

Deep inside the yawning blue waters of seemingly endless blue abyss; all teeth and arms and mystery, is Lusca. A half-shark, half-cephalopod that haunts the Blue Holes around the Bahamas.

This is one of my favorite cryptids, and deserves to be an all-timer. I think the Van Meter Visitor is emblematic of why it's an interesting topic/hobby to research, even though it's (allegedly) not real.

The Visitor had the head of a strange bird, complete with a glowing horn that protruded from the center of its head.
After it's reign of mild terror, the Visitor, along with a smaller version of itself, was chased into a mine, which was promptly, and thoroughly blown to hell.

Monster Month Day 1 - Van Meter Visitor

In 1903, in Van Meter Iowa, something incredible happened (allegedly) when a 9 foot tall bat winged creature appeared over night, peering into windows, climbing along rooftops, and frightening the populace for several days.
