Mauro said on his timeline that he's holding the designs just in case we can use the character elsewhere. I have no control over that, obviously, but if they ever asked, I'd say yes in a heartbeat.

Specifics are something that staffers at publishers know more than me, but comics is generally a razor-thin profit margin business, and there aren't always resources to publish every single good idea. Just one of those things!

David has the right of this. A lot of folks at comic pubs these days don't even work in the physical office, so anyone on socials likely had no idea.
I promise you the people at IDW are kind and cool and work very hard to make stories for y'all. Sega too!

The story was set in the past of the IDW timeline, so it won't impact any current plans.
Doubtful it'll get revisited, but as far as I'm concerned purely as a nerd, it happened and is canon, haha.

You'd have to ask IDW at a con panel or one of the occasional web Q&As they do. That's beyond my purview as a freelancer. This one-shot had kind of a shaggy dog origin story that I'll probably tell on a podcast someday, tho.

I'm working on some new ideas with IDW for next year, and I've got one AMAZING project being drawn for Penguin right now, so plenty of Sonic stuff from me in the future. Thanks for everyone's support! Sonic fans are chill people.

Our editors at IDW were great all the way through! These things just happen sometimes in publishing, and it's crummy. I'm sorry everyone won't get to see the radical new villain we cooked up. I thought the designs were clutch.
