Every Christmas the NY Times tells us to “Remember the Neediest” and “Give back to yr communities.” Yet this is the same paper that has banged the drum for war and refuses to endorse social safety nets that other OECD countries take for granted. Every Christmas the NY Times tells us to “Remember the Neediest” and “Give back to yr communities.” Yet this is the same paper that has banged the drum for war and refuses to endorse social safety nets that other OECD countries take for granted. Hell is a college bar at last call. They’re playing “Sweet Caroline” and “Mr Brightside” on repeat, it’s absolutely rammed and no one is leaving, and the place reeks of old socks because the lines haven’t been cleaned in days.

Hi from 50 UN Plaza, a federal building where many of my 18F colleagues used to report. Day 40 of the shutdown. 2 missed paychecks, part of a third. Federal employees (including my colleagues @ Dept of Ed) continue working without knowing when they’ll be paid, or are furloughed. #Shutdown2025

A friend of mine described The Black Keys as “domestic beer commercial soundtrack music AKA ‘Bud rawk.’” A clumsy term shouldn’t have stuck, but somehow it did. Man, we all used to spend a lotta time sitting around roasting popular bands. And unlike social media, you can go deep when hating IRL 🗣️🗣️🗣️
