Interesting. Maybe the cowboy Physical Challenge did see a bit of work put into it before it was cut and reworked into these segments, causing this cutscene to be carried over as an artifact.

The Shadow Mantle was introduced in Chapter 2. I assume we were originally meant to obtain it via a different method.

We also pretty much know that something along the lines of this design was still part of the plan when the Spamton Sweepstakes happened and teased the cowboy physical challenge that would later be considered for cancellation and ultimately reworked into something shorter.

Contrary to Tenna's claim after the last failure, the game still doesn't become impossible to lose. The same thing applies to the cooking minigame. It's weird that the script is referencing a feature that never got implemented.

When I want to copy text without retaining the formatting, I have to first paste it into Notepad++ to ensure the formatting can't be carried over, then copy it again from there.

Yeah, I think the only occasions where I ever found myself wanting to carry over the formatting was when I was copying and pasting between software or sites with conflicting formatting standards, so it still didn't work.

I feel a bit reminded of the orbs in Uurnog Uurnlimited, whose purpose a lot of players probably didn't figure out until they were given the easier to use one after the third ending.

(The remake basically tried to keep as much of the original script intact as it could get away with. That would be commendable for some VNs, but here, most of the H-scenes were pretty forced to begin with, so there's not much value in retaining the leadup to them.)

The original also has a patch that makes a lot of the content from the PS1 version available, such as an exclusive route (that unfortunately isn't very good) or H-scene replacements that are supposedly a lot better than the ones in the remake.

I can't tell if you're using it from this screenshot alone, but there is a fan-made patch that ports the old fan translation over. General consensus among the fandom after comparing both translations seems to be that the official one is notably worse.

Is it actually just eight-directional? It never felt like that to me. I know 3D Land has eight-directional movement, and its controls felt far worse to me.

Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground are 2D platformers where running is the default and you need to hold a button to walk slowly. Works well since occasions where you benefit from the extra precision of slow movement are uncommon.

Voicing the gameplay segments of Gnosia would've been pretty much impossible, considering the large amount of dynamically generated text. You'd have to voice many lines over a dozen times for each character they could refer to, among other things.

That seems like a bug. They probably wanted to prevent something weird happening like Kris having 0 HP after losing, but still wanted to show they were seriously injured, so they set their HP to 1. But they forgot to make sure this code doesn't run after a victory.

Heh. I guess our railway system is so unreliable that even the rest of the world knows about it. It's funny. Traveling via bus works perfectly fine here as long as you're in the right city. But traveling via train is a total pain.

It's still on Fakku, but I don't know if they provide the Mac and Linux versions or only the Windows one. The page doesn't specify. At the very least, the Android version probably is abandonware now.
