done with 6/7 stripes – just the blue left. but unfortunately as the scarf has come together i have fallen out of love HARD with the shade of blue i chose :/ it just looks too green to me, especially because it’s next to a very orangey red.

yarn on the right is what i intended to use when i bought all my materials for the project, bc the more saturated color would look a bit better; but the yarn i actually used, on the left, looks much closer to the shade i use for the stole in my illustrations! so no problem!!

a selection of buddies from brood XIII :) all the Magicicada i encountered were very goofy and docile, and absolutely ITTY BITTY compared to annuals!
an adult periodical cicada perched on my finger and looking at the camera head-on. It is black, with orangeish legs and bright red eyes. The front of an orange car is visible in the background. two dozen or so periodical cicadas on the siding and concrete foundation of a house. A few are actively emerging from their nymphal shells; the rest are fully sclerotized adults. Most have fully inflated, dried wings, but a few have wings that are partially twisted or crumpled. Several more adults sit on the ground below, surrounded by empty nymph shells. hundreds of empty cicada nymph shells piled at the base of a mature maple tree; they are mostly gathered in piles between the large roots of the tree. a freshly-emerged adult periodical cicada perched on the trunk of a tree. It is completely unsclerotized; it has bright red eyes and three small red ocelli, and black patches on either side of its pronotum, but the rest of its body and wings are a pinkish white.

finally started fixing up my beloved hand-me down jeans!! i learned so much just from doing these little reinforcements
a close-up of the knee on a pair of black denim jeans. the knee is artificially distressed and has a hole in it, but the corners of the hole have started to tear apart from wear; each tear is held together with maroon embroidery thread in a fishbone-like stitch. two seams on a pair of light blue denim jeans, which have been repaired with embroidery thread. one seam is held by bright blue thread in a neat, tight fishbone pattern; the other is woven over in ochre yellow thread in a straight, horizontal pattern.

Ara Taylor | Wild potato vine. A member of the bindweed family, this plant is perhaps best known for its sweet potato-like roots; but its flowers belie the fact that it is also a morning glory, blooming at the end of summer and into early fall when many other flowers are finished for the year.
