Don't give them mascot porn they don't deserve the honor... plus their mascot is horrible... Blue Jays far more deserving and easier to pull off... plus there was a lady Blue Jay

Found the VERY last of blooms of the Showy Milkweed (Asclepias speciosa) patch I often visit. Now everything begins to go to seed.

See you awesome flowers again next year.

This little native millipede is the Canadian Flat-backed millipede (Pseudopolydesmus canadensis) (though native to the US as well). Found these two munching on some moss and decaying material in Portland, OR.

Finally I am useful!

I think it's some species of "cutworm" since they tend to be dingy colored and curl into into a C-shape when disturbed...

Turns into a moth, though, similar to one like these...! I sadly can't pin down an EXACT species cause larvae are so difficult with that...

That's what I was hoping lol. ADMITTEDLY the flowers are COOL. But it just TAKES over everything, terribly unfortunate!

My new route is COVERED in HORRID... English Ivy (Hedera helix). Although the flowers are INTERESTING, it does not make up for the ecological harm the invasive species causes. Fortunately... I know a bit TOO much botany and know of a specific parasite of the ivy... DO NOT google the common name

Got excited thinking this was a parasite, however it is not. Autumn crocus (Colchicum autumnale). It sends up leaves during spring to store energy. Then later, it flowers in autumn without any leaves. Hence the very pale color. Super interesting adaptation!
