I wish electronics makers would stop making boxes that are full of hot glue and magnets that are basically impossible to dismantle/flatten for the sake of aesthetics and the unboxing experience. My ten year old can't take them apart. Go back to making normal boxes.

Saw bobcat prints in the snow on a trail walk today 🥰 I correctly IDed them, took pics, and then looked them up after the fact to verify.

I've tried really hard not to fall into a pattern of negative thinking. But the time from September to now has been full of struggle and Christmas has not even given us a break. I'm tired. I really needed these 6 days off to bring peace.

I finished a knitted item for the first time in probably a year and half. I was knitting prolifically for a few years and then my job situation changed and I mostly stopped. It felt really good to finish an item. Next, I need a bunch of dishcloths. They're fast and satisfying to make.

Marvin has always been very interested in participating in knitting. The difference now is that he's too arthritic to jump up himself, and so he yells until I pick him up, so that he can be a pain in my arse.

So moving dinner to my dad's yesterday on account of our oven failing the day before turned out to be great. Everything was prepped and ready to bake, plus we brought paper plates because Dad doesn't have a dishwasher that I was counting on at my house as host.

The three available elements at CT were not the correct ones (oven was too hot to check so K went an hour before close and bought all 3). So we're going to have to change locations.
But the oven element just died!
Canadian Tire is still open and K is handy. Wish us luck.

The children have been warned that the house is now a museum.
The food prep is done and kitchen cleaned, except for the cookies for Santa, of course.

Another early AM walk for me! It's harder to convince myself to go now that the kids don't get up at the crack of dawn anymore. I'll have to find a balance between walks and the luxury of a lie-in.

I had such a pleasant day. Completed my shopping early this morning before it got busy. Wrapped. Cleaned out my closet since it's not stuffed with gifts. Then just generally had a relaxing, contented day.
Words can't express how much I needed this kind of day.

I'm very grateful to my brain for prompting me to go for a very early walk, and then came to the office for the holiday socials instead of WFH. I woke up so anxious, and I have managed to completely re-wire the day into a pleasant one.
