You know how much I hate snakes and after watching the morning news my mind went to "Cut off the head of the snake and the body will die," which is a metaphor for completely eliminating a problem by removing its source, leader, or main cause. I can think of 3 situations where this is applicable now.

Honestly, a 71 yo woman in Missouri can see that "Vladimir" is playing us again, TACO was blindsided, and nothing is going to change. Wouldn't surprise me there's a bombing escalation tonight in Ukraine. Ukraine is just a pawn in this awful awful game between two power-hungry narcissists.
