The cost and availability of childcare is a barrier to great work.

I’m piloting a Mayor’s Childcare Grant in County Durham.

It’ll plug gaps in support so parents can get into work or training and give their kids the best start in life

The Northumberland Line stations need to open asap!

It can take 12 weeks after a station is complete for trains to stop - we can’t wait that long.

I’ve written to Network Rail with Ian Lavery & @emmafoodymp.bsky.social to urge them to move faster so passengers can take advantage of the new line.

I met some fab women in Wallsend recently who are smashing misconceptions about what a construction worker looks like 👷‍♀️

Bellway are bringing more women into house building and it's paying off.

As we build more homes than ever, talented women are shaping how and thriving in a male dominated sector!

I am incredibly saddened to hear of the attack at a synagogue in Manchester.

It’s even more appalling today, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Sending love and solidarity from the North East to victims, their families, emergency services and the community.

Young people growing up in the North East deserve their part in a future driven by AI.

It was brilliant to speak to apprentices with Tech Secretary Liz Kendall at Sage.

They’re a key part of our new AI Growth Zone in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

The North East is truly leading the way!

Tommy Robinson's brand of hate and division offers the people of the North East nothing. He won't create jobs, he won't do anything to reduce your energy bills, he won't make your local transport better.

All he offers is hate, and too often violence. There is no place for that in this region.(1/4)

It was fantastic today to see new life in the beating heart of Durham city. We’re supporting the team there in celebrating our mining heritage while forging a new future bringing communities together.

Forth Yards is am amazing location on the banks of the Tyne yet it's stood mostly unused for 20 years.

We simply couldn’t miss this opportunity when new homes are so needed!

I’m delighted that we’ve secured £121.8m for up to 2,500 homes on the edge of Newcastle city centre 🏘️

Stagecoach could simply dip into the massive profits and settle this!

Unite just want drivers paid the same as elsewhere in the country.

Drivers don’t want to strike and cause disruption but they shouldn't be short-changed either.

I told Stagecoach bosses last week we need this sorted asap.

I’m sworn to secrecy but it was great to get a sneak peak at new games being made at @ubisoft.com in Gosforth🎮

It’s amazing that leading games like Assassin’s Creed and Avatar were made here.

This is a thriving, growing industry in the NE and key to our plans create real opportunity.

Yet, once again that legacy is ignored.

More Whitehall-centric decisions saying talent only exists in the South?

It’s not good enough. It needs to change and change for good.
