I simply can not bear another minute of the news today, so I'm spending the weekend canning and sewing. I truly hope that you'll be able to find something to do today that brings you a few moments of joy and relief from this flaming trainwreck.

Behold! Carrot and daikon radish pickles.

This week's canning projects were all about the cherries: 3 pints of Danish cherry sauce and 3 quarts and 5 pints of delicious cherry pie filling all topped off with 4 pints of green beans from my bean plants that are just starting to produce. I LOVE putting homemade food on the shelf! #canningsky

Huckleberry and Finn would like to know if you'd like to come out and play with them in the freshly mowed yard.

First loaf out of the new oven with Bread Proofing option. The proof temp was 15 degrees warmer than my usual temp, so I overproofed the hell out of it and then burned the bottom while baking because it bakes way hotter, but I'm pretty darn happy with this crumb! #breadsky #bakesky

Happy Friday, everyone, from these two knuckleheads. #dogsofbluesky

I'm simply exhausted by all of this and I'll bet you are, too.

Here are some early morning flowers to cheer you up. #bloomscrolling #gardensky

These poor little guys took a beating in the recent rainy spell, but hopefully they'll get back on their feet this week. #bloomscrolling #gardensky

That would be a wise choice. Look at machines with adjustable handles so that if your hands get tired you can adjust the handle position to relieve fatigue.

Rulers are WAY easier on a longarm. You can do some really cool designs when the quilt is laid out flat on a frame. (Pic is 100% ruler work)

This little painted rock was sitting on the ledge at the bank drive-up window this morning and it was truly a gift on this grey and difficult day.

I hope it brings you the same boost it brought me. Let's all just keep going.

As we all start planning/planting our summer vegetable gardens, please remember to add an extra row or two to grow food to donate to your local food shelf. There are going to be hungry people all around us this year.

Opinions, please? My plan: 1" wide white border, then a 2"wide purple border, then another white border. How wide should that final border be? The quilt will be 95"wide after that purple border and I only want this to be a queen sz so I can't get too carried away. Blocks are 14" #quiltsky

Sewing together the last few rows of this @quiltville-bonnie.bsky.social mystery quilt from 2021. Next up: maybe a checkerboard border?

Behold. This is Iyla, the Judge of Everyone. No matter what you're doing right now, she is perched high atop the Great Wall of Judgement watching you and has decided that you are doing it wrong.

Little Finny would like to know if you'd care to stop doomscrolling and play ball with him now?

Here's something good to cheer you up today: my son Cody and his team are climbing this building in full firefighter gear, including oxygen tanks,in the Fight For Air Climb to raise money for the American Lung Assoc.

Thank goodness for first responders. They save us all.

Sewing and watching Godzilla King of the Monsters because it seems less scary to watch monster movies than to watch the news, so we've got that going for us. #quiltsky

So now that RFK JR is in, are we all going to start cooking our food at temps like that woman used on her Marie Callender pumpkin pie just in case?

What color should I use for the sashing strips on this quilt? If you look at the second row you'll see that I tucked two shades of yellow in there as possible contenders. Do either of them work? Note: I do not love this quilt at all, and am wondering why I'm even finishing it. Ugh.
