I love this thread. I have to put the book on my TBR. But … "We'd find it hard to have enemies if we cared.” is something I’m always thinking about.

Any hero needs to carry the weight of their own flaw(s) or risk a yawning reader/viewer. For me, a hero who battles a foe while grappling with themself in some way makes the hero stronger and more interesting than the villain.
