Seaside cliff “city skyline”. This is a section of seaside cliffs at my hometown in Newfoundland. For scale, the “blocks” are typically one to three or so inches in the longest dimension. These are fairly large rock features, but not “skyscraper-massive” features. #geology #cliffs

In this year’s #PlanetaryHealthCheck (www.pik-potsdam.de/en/news/late...), the #OceanAcidification boundary has been assessed as breached for the first time. What does this mean? Nice explanatory piece in “Dialogue Earth”, with input from PIK researcher Levke Caesar.

Explainer: The latest science on ocean acidification
In 2025, scientists warned the ‘planetary boundary’ for ocean acidification had been crossed. This is what that means and why it matters

Who said flying is limited to the sky?

This footage shows the largest known migration of mobula rays, captured in the waters of Baja California Sur.

Filmed by freediver and photographer Aidan Bedford.
A quiet reminder that art often begins with attention.

Roy Lichtenstein’s House I (1999) plays with perception: its painted aluminum structure twists architecture into a dynamic illusion. As viewers move, the static sculpture seems to flip and rotate—proof that our minds shape reality.🌀

The mountains kneel
to hold this water,
the beautiful blue.
I came here to think
but the lake swallowed my thoughts,
gave me back only silence,
only thirst,
only the unbearable truth
that I will leave
and it will stay,
blue and indifferent,
forever..... #photography #patagonia

43 years ago today our digital vocabulary expanded tremendously through a simple :-) or :-(
