Burnt out old webcomics artist slowly re-launching and doing work for some friends TTRPG projects. I like drawing goblins, the late Bode artist, Underground Comix, classic Men's Magazines and Hentai. NSFW to say the least...!
IMO most "Good Christians" would pick a FIGHT with J.C. if they saw him walking around. Or report him to ICE or the FBI as an illegal/terrorist due to outward appearance... Gandhi noticed that way back also...

>>publishers who are making characters gay, trans, etc....! Mind you they'd make them neo-Nazis or Birchers if it was "Fashionably Radical" they ONLY care about $$$...

That's the COST of being big.

I'd never sell out Grilmac, etc.

Spawn put a special place in Hell for creators who sold out!

>>Rowling, I NEVER placed in that level. She IMO is a standard "Writer" who is just making content they hope a publisher will take up and by LUCK got picked out of thousands. And again nothing new - I don't mean plagiarism but it's been done...

AND well her work is in the hands of the big >>>

Never meet your heroes should be the rule.
By "Deviant" I meant <> the vibe of the day, most great creatives have DEEP inner flaws. Cruel rule but that inner disruption pushes them to inflict it on the world they see as causing them pain so they make works that transcend their small lives...

>>chain here - not even really defending Rowling, I'd be defending OTHER good + competent but not genius level but also controversial authors WAY before Rowling and not even really defending here...! Ok story from an individual who has issues...

Even before greats like Dunsany, Howard, CAS...

>>in the trash bin out back when he cheated on Counterstrike...

I don't know how he'd react to the "Politics" about Rowling recently since he passed before... but "Liberal" old school means you are super intellectual, think about everything, read everything...etc.

Anyways, sorry about the long>>

>>because my half brothers got it shoved in their faces in school years ago "Hey, Dad, this guy went to a boarding school!"

Oh, and BTW - my late Father was a HIPPIE I'll say again.
Even way after that time he did things like stopping me from hunting a shark for shark fin soup or shoving a punk>>

>the vibe of the day. Like Oscar Wilde was OK for today but a serious sicko (being gay) and got put in jail for it... Today he'd probably be 'right wing' I'd bet...

Anyways Harry Potter is "Okay, I guess..." and I read due to Dad liking it <> anyone knowing Rowling... I think he only read it>>

>>This was years before the thing got "Political" since Rowling now is not "Fashionably Radical" or whatever...

Art vs artist, never meet your heroes stuff.
I never saw Harry Potter as unique or Rowling as a genius but there's a rule (theory of a friend) that any true genius has to be deviant from>

>>my father liked also!
For years I sent him on his B-day some Harry Potter candy/misc stuff or Spongebob (another thing of his fancy)

Anyway, he passed a few years ago...
So I get choked up but suppress any sobby since I'm a MAN and traditionally have to tough it...when I see Harry Potter stuff.

>>for various reasons. So he urged me to read it.
It was OK - I'd read a book "So you want to be a wizard" published decades ago that was 90% like it, nothing original and no Barbarian Warlords carrying off nubile slave girls but a solid book of fiction.

But it was something I liked kinda that>>

Normally when something is mass-popular I don't like it. Inner radical from my Hippie parents perhaps. In the case of Harry Potter my father almost headlocked me to get into. Why? Well he liked it and unlike most Americans he went to a boarding school due to his parents sending him there>>

>>work created the "Fusion" style of crossing cliche American comics realism with Anime style - more defined it.

Personally I was more wild for the experimentation and awesome art from other independents. His "Prophet" was awesome in other hands though...!

That was a fun time!
IMO the Underground Comix and then the Independent comics movement leading to the 1980s Direct Market boom was better. Just it was the 90s that comics went mainstream. Liefeld caught that wave good.

I like the Lobo parody of that period...
And I won't bash Liefeld, IMO his>>
