🛂 Millions are denied short-stay visas to Europe every year. In 2024 alone, rejected applicants lost €145M in fees – 90% from Africa & Asia.

On 13 Sept, exhibition by LAGO Collective & @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social will explore visa inequality through data, sound and design ⬇️

Our colleague Prof. Peter Marshall passed away last month. He became an assistant lecturer in our department in 1959 and Rhodes Professor of Imperial History in 1980. In 2009, we celebrated his 50th consecutive year of lecturing @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social.

We have a wonderful new blog post written by our MA History intern all about Imperial Scholarship and the East. During his time with us, Kamal looked at letters and minutes in our College Archive relating to Gottlieb Wilhelm Leitner, a Victorian orientalist and polyglot. 🧵

Our colleague Dr Sundeep Lidher was invited to speak at today's #FestivalofEducation! In a session on 'teacher professionalism' Sundeep shared findings from her recent ESRC-funded work on the role of teacher education in supporting engagement with British histories of migration & empire in schools

It's been a wonderful first term at @kingshistory.bsky.social teaching the histories of science, the environment and the senses to a hugely engaged bunch of students! Managed to get some field-trip sensory walking action in which went down a treat: www.kcl.ac.uk/news/sensory...
Sensory walks help develop students' skills for history degrees
Undergraduate History students completed a sensory walk, part of a fieldtrip, recording their sensory experiences at a series of historical sites in London.
