As a 30 something with a stable well paying job, I also mindlessly watch YouTube... A lot. But with his top homepage recommendation being a really great Tom Scott video, I think this kid is going places. Bday idea: get a cheap 3d printer and show him the website onshape.com so he can make a case😉

I have not touched my Chromecast yet today, and now I am a bit scared to try.

It really depends on what games you are playing. A lot of the multiplayer games are stuck behind anticheat rootkits that don't play nice with Linux. But personally I have been playing all my games exclusively on Linux for past 5 years. I am just not into those games that don't run.

Having just recently set up dual booting after years of solo booting Linux, let me make a recommendation of turning off fastboot on windows. It took me a bit to realize that windows with fastboot on hogs the WiFi card somehow when it shuts down.

Maintenance day? We are supposed to have a maintenance day? No one said anything about there being a maintenance day. Was this in the manual?.. Oh right, there was no manual either.

I was curious what type of software someone might try and install on server 2012. So I clicked on the first link in your profile and was afraid I was having a stroke as I tried to figure out how the words related to software. 😵‍💫😂

Of course, security would now like a word. In the form of a 30 minute video, with a quiz at the end.

Oh I somewhat solved this with another app whos name I cant recall. When I open an app image I now get a dialog prompt to add it as a shortcut. Still feels clunky having to go to a site to download an app image when most software is a one line command. I will always take an apt install over appimage

Every time flatpack/app images comes up, I wonder if I am doing something wrong. I loath the things. Seems that any time I try it, something about it does not work right. And then I have to figure out how to make an app shortcut, or have a folder full of app versions every time the app updates.

I'd rather spend 5 hours figuring out how to do a particular task on Linux that would take 2 minutes on windows. I usually end up learning something new about how my computer works which is a huge dopamine kick but I recognize it's not something most people want to deal with.

I wonder if office building has one of those. If we do, it must be stuck partially open. It would explain why I feel like I am working in a wood smoker at 10 am, as the steakhouse across the street preps for lunch 🤤

Maybe you know this already, but last time I sent an order for a CNC part in china, there was an explicit message that I had to acknowledge saying I was not ordering weapon parts. There are export controls in china that would get the company in a lot of trouble.

That is so cool. How hot does the raspberry pi 5 get? I have a dream of one day building an android infotainment system to replace the god awful Chinese android system that's in there now. But Texas summers are one hell of a torture test for any electronics.

$240 is what I paid to see my psychiatrist last week here in the US. 😵‍💫 That was the 4th visit as we adjust meds after restarting ADHD and depression meds. I don't get anything free until I spend $4000 in a year. And even then I would owe 10% of costs.
