At first during pre-release i didn't expect to like this game as much as something like Legends Arceus (which i loved a lot) but after playing it i can definitely say its one of my favorite pokemon games and redeemed Kalos as a region for me as well after playing Pokémon Y

Really enjoyed this game! It has a but if bullshit difficulty (especially in bosses) which knocks it down a peg but overall its an amazing platformer! Highly recommend it!

I definitely have to agree with you, over time i think i just generally started to dislike the N Sane Trilogy more and more (at least in terms of visuals and designs), i think the visuals and designs just don't hit the same as the original trilogy and makes the game look kinda ugly in retrospect.
