Stiles and other sitting NDP MPPs have been doing what they can but there's just not much they can do given the current situation. Ford's government has shown no interest in working with the NDP. Allowing the NDP input on a bill the Cons. want to pass only helps the NDP who are hated by Ford's base.

The FPTP system gave Ford an undemocratic mega majority. This combined with his willingness to use the notwithstanding clause (along with feckless, or corrupt, law enforcement agencies) has given Ford's government essentially free reign to do what they want, however they want.

Personally, I think it's a reflection of Trump's "game recognizes game" worldview and his desire to surround himself with winners (as well as Zohran's irrevocable charisma and good looks) but the timing is interesting...

As for Franzen... yeah, that was bad. In Babs' defense, coaches treating players like that wasn't uncommon at that time and no one has claimed that Babs spoke that way to another player since. Still, he was wrong to do it. Jenner's complaint was due to him being entitled and feeling threatened.

Excluding 2 seasons in CAR and 1 in CBJ Commodore was never a full-time NHLer, which he seems to blame Babs solely for despite barely playing for his teams. Modano was abysmal in his final season (3.7 PPG) and didn't deserve to play. Patriotism given the intense CAN-USA rivalry likely played in too.
