If you have to add a note like this to the front page of your website, it's a pretty clear sign you should rethink your approach to usability and accessibility.

Missouri's Casenet website is amazing and a miracle in some ways -- but they've taken a few steps backward recently.

ICYMI: Rents across the #StLouis region are soaring but nowhere more than the neighborhoods targeted by real estate investors. And rents at single-family homes are rising faster than other types. From @stephkukuljan.bsky.social and me.

In 2017, I got more ambitious: I adapted the asteroid scene from "The Empire Strikes Back."

This time the sprite wasn't fixed in place — the Millennium Falcon needed to zip around.

This piece was released in Blocktronics' "Detention Block AA-23" artpack.

Later in 2015, I would teamed up with Whazzit to make another ANSI animation using similar parallax techniques.

We called it "Under the Sea," with a mermaid swimming through the ocean. It was released in Mistigris' 21st anniversary artpack.

Ten years ago, I made my first parallax-scrolling ANSI art animation. Today I cleaned it up, made it smoother and added titles and credits.

The original was a user-controllable tech demo I made for my late daughter Jadzia on our BBS, "Guardian of Forever."

One final update on our fundraising campaign in memory of Jadzia, for the Marfan Foundation.

I'm amazed to say that, as of Saturday morning, we've raised $1,860!

Would you help push us push the #stlouis campaign past $100K? You can give in memory of Jadzia here:

Cranes against the early morning sky during my ride to work on the Riverfront Trail.

(Note: In the two weeks since my last commute, the trail has been fully closed at the Stan Musial bridge for rail construction ... I had to detour to Broadway via N. Market St.)

My daughter Jadzia, who died in 2020, had Marfan Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder which affected her heart.

For this 5th anniversary, we're raising money for the Marfan Foundation in Jadzia's honor. Would you support us?

We have raised $660 — can we break $1,000?

Took an early morning e-bike ride from North Riverfront Park down to the McKinley Bridge, then across to Illinois, north up the Confluence Trail, then west and across the Chain of Rocks Bridge back to St. Louis. Passed a farm at sunrise with a rooster crowing. The Illinois part was all new to me.

Today I will be walking with my kids in memory of my daughter Jadzia at the St. Louis Walk for Victory.

Jadzia had Marfan Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder which affected her heart.

Your gift could save lives and improve the quality of life for people like her.

Phishing training today, with the usual superfluous visuals.

Here's a fishing hook with some documents on it. The front doc seems like it has a profile icon and some lines?

But my brain keeps reading it sideways as the word "doll".

(2/2) I couldn't let it go.

Months later I revisited my code, and finally overcame the obstacles I had run into with the data interpolation.

The result? A silky smooth animated version of Scout the sturgreon's journey.

The highs and the lows of biking St. Louis's Riverfront Trail to downtown: Beautiful foggy sunrise up north ... and frequent dump piles closer to downtown.

Try something different this Sunday — connect to a BBS!

I recommend my BBS, Guardian of Forever, but there's plenty to visit ... nearly 1,000 are listed on www.telnetbbsguide.com/bbs/list/bri... !

To get the best old-school experience, use a terminal like SyncTerm (syncterm.bbsdev.net).

ICYMI: A Post-Dispatch analysis found Missouri Republicans' redistricting plan likely would cement GOP control in 7 of 8 congressional districts, with only slightly elevated risk for the party in future elections.

To see how the redistricting might shift actual votes, the Post-Dispatch analyzed precinct-level results from the 2020 presidential election.

Gov. Mike Kehoe's proposal to change Missouri’s eight congressional districts was designed by Republicans to give themselves a 7-1 advantage by eliminating one safe Democratic seat.

Here is a breakdown of the map, which gets its first committee hearing Thursday.:

If you've ever driven past the St. Louis Airport, you've probably seen the Rev. David E. Taylor's billboard. Since 2017, it has borne a succession of bizarre ads sporting Taylor's photo ... and dozens and dozens of crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs.

Josie and I have become boot twins. She broke one of her little toes a few weeks ago. And apparently I broke my big toe when my bike slid out while I was riding home from work on Tuesday (went down a path I should not have while trying to get from Cass to the Riverfront Trail).
