Richard lets me know he’s hungry by biting my shoes. 😅 Elise is far less impatient.

@btobirds.bsky.social Got an unusual metal ring number from a mute swan. All the ones I’ve reported before are two letters followed by four numbers. This one is six numbers.

Is this correct? It’s identical in every other way. Never seen a fully numerical one before.

The trouble with swans knowing you’re a source of food, and that the food container is in your bag. 😅

Short grunts and preening. A happy and relaxed male swan. 🥰

Posting Egyptian goose videos to Facebook is hilarious, if the birds are being noisy. It picks up some of their calls as words.

Things Egyptian geese apparently say:

“You.”
“Up.”
“Huh?”

I’m feeling that last one. 😂

Egyptian goose startled a pigeon, which made his mate jump. 🤭

Richard the Jerk takes advantage of today’s high water level to climb out of the river and hiss at me. Just like old times. 🥹 Always good to see him and Elise. #swans #Norwich

Richard and Elise enjoying some special food this morning, and my favourite jerk asking for seconds! 🤭

I’m glad to see them looking so happy and energetic. Richard seems more himself since that hook was removed.

Hoping to get good details on 4EXH and 4DUH when the reports come through. I’ve been getting the feeling this is a male pair.

Feel like a mama swan with these birds sometimes. 🥹

4EXH and 4DUH came out of the river this morning, so I was finally able to get pics of their metal rings to submit to Euring! I’m excited to learn more about these sweet swan parents. 🥰

Gadwall ducks spotted this morning! First time seeing them. Drab, but such a striking pattern. 🥰

Got swans in my face.

Always fun getting down to their level. Especially when they start pestering me for more food. 🤭

Swans at Pulls Ferry were not impressed by the grey heron this morning. 😅

These four cygnets have been interesting. They just started showing up about a week ago, usually hanging around multiple adult swans. No idea who the parents are!

Shopping trip interrupted by hurt pigeon. Not visible here, but had a slightly bleeding wound underneath.

Left with a rescue that takes pigeons. Miss this gentle sweetheart already, but glad to see them in good hands. 🥰

The Egyptian geese followed me.

Saw them perched high across the river, uninterested in coming over. Walked on. Moments later they flew past, turned to land on the ground and ran up to me. 😭

I feel like I’ve accidentally trained these birds. 😂

This is how friendly the Egyptian geese are with me. 🥰

The male of this pair is a bit shy, but the female is quick to come over for food. Still, I’m amazed she hopped up next to me like this! Stayed on the bench until I moved on.

Flappy cygnets. 🥰 The young swans are getting more adult feathers, lots of white under the wings.

Making pigeon friends again. 🥰

Virtual Boy accessory for Switch. Amazing.

Feeding the Egyptian geese attracted a lot of pigeons. The pigeons kept jumping on my hand, trying to get the food. 😅

I should’ve taken more oats. Ran out too soon.

Richard and Elise are back. 🥹

I was a little worried after I had to report what looked like a fishing line caught in Elise’s bill, and some kind of string stuck to Richard (seemed to be tangled in one of his wing feathers).

No sign of anything stuck to either of them now. Happy they got help. 🥰
