I’m going to Malta to write for a week at the end of January. Any suggestions of where to stay or avoid? Sea view would be great.

Cheers.

Black Bag with Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchet, Pierce Brosnan and host of other good names. Fifteen minutes in and I’m not getting it. Don’t want to read any reviews because they usually spoil it or influence my enjoyment but it feels very, very bad. Although there are some nice outfits ….

I was just wondering when Mark Ruffalo is going to ring and ask me out. It’s been, like, fifteen years now, Mark.

Because I can’t sleep I decided to rate the top 3 post-war thrillers that were also excellent films. Both criteria must be satisfied.

1. Marathon Man

2. The Spy Who Came In From The Cold

3. The Day of the Jackal

Honourable mention for The Odessa File.

Any dissenters?

Dead Ink Books launches Outsider Classics republishing forgotten masterpieces and once-censored provocations to open the debate about the canon - who gets to create it, who gets excluded from it – and show that it is a malleable and changeable thing. @deadinkbooks.bsky.social
