Also this video is just an *excellent* source of great Fabios.

Evolution is such a great little dungeon crawler series and I really hope Sting eventually rereleases them in some sort of definitive collection.
They feel underrated even for Sting RPGs, though I can't say I blame people for disliking how much of a tedious grind they can be. I love 'em though.
The North American cover art for "Evolution: The World of Sacred Device" for the Sega Dreamcast. The North American cover art for "Evolution 2: Far Off Promise" for the Sega Dreamcast. The North American cover art for "Evolution Worlds" for the Nintendo GameCube. The Japanese cover art for "Shinkisekai Evolution: Hateshinai Dungeon" (released outside of Japan under the title "Evolution: Eternal Dungeons") for the Neo Geo Pocket Color.

You are one of the few people I would trust with such a topic. You have a genuine love for kusoge and that kind of sincerity is endearing. Pass on that forbidden knowledge. Kusoge are worth preserving!

I've never seen the movie but I have read every volume of the manga. I think part of the reason why I haven't watched it yet is because it doesn't feel like the kind of narrative that could be compressed into a movie, plus the usual "book was better" concerns. Maybe someday I'll check it out.

...Also what the hell is going on in the GunBuster Fandom wiki?

It's also so funny to me how running out of budget at the finish line was a recurring issue with Gainax. The entire final episode is in black-and-white and the big epic final battle is downgraded to a storyboards slideshow.

Why didn't anyone tell me GunBuster was so much fun? Watched it over the weekend and it felt like I was twelve years old again watching Evangelion what with all the over-the-top melodrama, screaming, and funky space monsters (yes I know it's the same director).

An ancient Internet meme that still rings true.

For a split second my brain thought this was Marina Liteyears.

Oh yeah and this is one of those VNs that you're going to want to play in Japanese as there's a lot of important wordplay that gets lost in the English translation.

Yeah, as with all party games, how enjoyable it is depends heavily on the group you're playing it with.

It's a fun time when used in a crafted narrative though!

Casting my vote for Raging Loop. It's not a perfect narrative by a long shot but it's still a great time with a fun variation of the Mafia/Werewolf social deduction party game.

3. Fans of the first game who stubbornly refuse to adjust their muscle memories to deal with the initial change in the down-attack.

(I continue to hate Bluesky's character limit. This would all be one post if it could.)

2. People have had almost a decade to familiarize themselves with Hollow Knight and all its secrets and mechanics, whereas Silksong has only been around for less than a week. It feels more difficult because it's new and less familiar.
kiteline.bsky.social
I feel like a lot of it boils down to three things:
1. Most people are generally bad at 2D action-platformers (especially those who haven't played Hollow Knight and are only playing Silksong because of FOMO instead of any genuine interest).
kiteline.bsky.social
My one Silksong hot take is that I genuinely don't think it's all that difficult or challenging when compared to the first game. It's challenging for sure, but it's not *that* bad.

The other day I was at my local fish store and overheard a dudebro with a backwards baseball cap arguing with the owner over the proper way to care for seahorses. He had got all his (bad) information from ChatGPT and thought that was better info than the owner's 30+ years of firsthand experience.

every UK video game in the 80s and 90s was made by a guy named like "lord wensleydale" or two guys named "the chippy twins" and was about an egg with no special abilities going on an adventure and dying immediately. it was ported to the super nintendo where everyone hated it

Myst? Was that the one with John Goodman?

The most annoying gamedevs you know are going to be spewing their absolute worst takes on Metroidvanias for a while, so stay strong out there and remain vigilant.
kiteline.bsky.social
This is easily the best one and it's not even close.

I'm probably too old and jaded, but I remember finding this one to be laughably melodramatic, cloying and predictable in a way that felt way too obviously emotionally manipulative. I've played through a few of Key's other VNs and felt the same about them.

It's peak 2000's otaku culture though.
