Is Kit too old to Trick or Treat? Not quiiiite. Certainly not that'll he'll admit to. And even if not, there will be costume parties and all. And the adventurous, nerdy kid has a great costume idea!

Mixed feelings today - been thinking a lot about Jasper. His birthday was earlier this month - I didn't really notice. But today's the anniversary of his surgery that saved his life. Somehow it feels like the bigger moment.
But I'm excited about Oz...and got a unexpected raise at work.

He was my first. He and Jasper were the dogs...my dogs through terrible momemts in my life.
They were the anchors that kept me from making awful decisions. They made me remember that I was needed, even as just the source of their daily walk.

Every moment was echos of love and connection. All our love. All his favorites. Sunshine, attention, reminders, treats, and one last gentle sleep after well over 15 years together.

For the last few days he's spent every waking minute surrounded by his loved ones, his favorite toys and blanket and snacks. Pretzels, cereal, pancakes, cheese...you name it.

Another goodbye, and so soon. Rascal was my first dog. Jasper was the first dog I could call 'mine' but Rascal was the first dog who was really part of my life.
I lived with him longer than any state ilve lived in; any job I've held; any real relationship I've been in.
And today we said goodbye.

I think Little Troubles has been my shift in species, too. I've been a roocoon since I joined the fandom, round about the dawn of recorded history (the year started with a 1). I've toyed with other species, but nothing has ever stuck like the beaver has. (art by @sparkydino.bsky.social)

And in the set that just launched - Roll For Regression? My first actual card art - and there's more to come, too. I don't imagine I'll be opening for commissions any time soon, but it's a cool feeling and I'm grateful to @basilbunny.bsky.social for giving me a chance.

This was the year I guess I officially became an artist. I've been working with @littletroubles.bsky.social as the Card doer and Acorn Scout at large since launch, but this year... I designed a onesie that people all over the world are wearing.

This is, of course, also the first new years eve in over a decade that I'm spending without Jasper. It's strange to consider that; it hurts, and I know it will for a long time to come.
