I actually like the trailers. Sometimes there’s something new and exciting, like new Sega titles, or stuff like that. I care… very little about the actual awards, I just want to be excited about new games.

I get both parts of this. Someone dying in their 80s is always “they lived a good long life!”
And when they’re your own people, it’s never a good enough, long enough one.

Different storage, only being able to buy them in quantities that you can’t reliably use up, stuff like that. Or it could just be the suppliers being jerks, for example.
Granted, the most obvious one is “it’s what the market will bear”, but if you want other possibilities they do at least exist.

A few things come to mind, largely centered around the cost of providing it not necessarily being tied strictly to the material cost, but I don’t have any data.
