Mind you, you can also try to balance between the two and see if you can find a comfortable medium, where you're profitable yet you make it more in the style you want as well. But finding a good balance that can keep it profitable can be... I guess tricky to find while still holding a vision.

It's a choice on their part. Do you want to make a game that you want to make and play, or do you want to make a profitable game that will make you money? Understand that you're not entitled to anyones money just because you create a game.

Need to look into having a custom model for Kitt made for this too. Not sure if I'll be able to have it made any time soon, but it'd be nice to actually go in as myself lol.

I would still put this on the marketing team and game devs over the youtubers. If they convince more people to close their wallets and walk away, then it means the marketing team didn't do enough to convince people to do the opposite and open their wallets and convince people it's worth trying.

Dev's need to do more research before putting out games so they can find out what people unfortunately want. Other wise this will just keep on happening and happening.
