Small sample of my test, seems to have fixed the audio desync issues as well.

I've seen videos toting those all-in-one analog recording devices, but I'm weary about the quality given how cheap these devices are, and most analog to USB capture cards I've looked at seem to function case by case as well, it's a tough decision to make honestly...

The other thing is for VHS conversion the method I use now to view my tapes shows a little bit of snowy artifacting(which either I assume is tape degridation, a time base correction issue, or needing to clean the tape head) and occasional audio desync(which I think is more a capture device issue)...

Funny thing too is that just under Perfect Celebrity my 2nd top song was Electric Zoo from SpongeBob which was played 140 times on loop because me and a coworker were bored one night :3
