Except you don’t yank it out. You bleed it out drop by drop 🩸😂

It’s highway robbery, and most readers don’t know this. You know how zon gives you credits for using slow shipping options that you can then apply to digital purchases such as ebooks? I used to think zon eats that discount. Naive child 😂 they pass it on to the author

Someone should establish a queer business network 🤔

Not on the creator side. We get 40% or 25% from what you paid. Couldn't find a $.99 example in my own royalty statements, but here's someone buying Us, Et Cetera in AU for $1.82 and me getting paid 46 cents for it 😐

Actually they probably aren’t. I don’t know how much it costs them to host an audiobook on their servers, but I doubt it’s much. They’re still taking your 60 cents and the audiobook rights holder gets 40 or 25 cents. Audible makes money anyway.

As far as free listens, Audible doesn’t allow us to pitch our books for that 😩 On the one hand, I dislike how much more free stuff they have nowadays—like who’s gonna pay for anything if there’s free?! On the other, it is a great promo tool for series. Wish it was available to indies

But it’s a very unique book so the algos don’t know what to do with it. In fact, Love Immortal made as much money on audio in 3 months as Us Etc did in a year 🤷🏻 If you ask most indies who are doing well, they’ll probably tell you it takes about a year of consistent sales to recoup.

I think most people severely overestimate how much books sell 😄 It’s very difficult to sell 1000 copies unless you’re a popular author with a lot of marketing behind you. Feathers earned out very quickly (5 months) because fantasy is popular and Audible put it on sale. Us Etc hasn’t yet.

The narrator gets paid upfront. That’s why it costs $2-5k to produce an audiobook, which I then have to recoup from the royalties. The 40% royalty goes to me and the rest Audible keeps. It average to about $3.5-4.5 per copy sold if it’s bought for credit. Less when they put it on sale

It’s a volume/discoverability issue. Most people get audiobooks on audible period. Audible algorithms also promote my books within their ecosystem so they show up recommended for listeners. Nothing else does that. People just won’t find them on other retailers even if I did get higher royalties.

Thank you! I feel like we’re all amazon’s hostages in some way 😫

Most of the audiobooks I read are 🏳️‍🌈 as well! There’s still a big % of queer books out there that are indies coz traditional publishing just doesn’t produce many. And retailers outside of Amazon often want nothing to do with our books unfortunately, won’t feature them in promotions etc

Aww thank you so much!! I hope you enjoy them!! ♥️♥️♥️☺️

Aw thank you so much!!! ♥️🫶

Hope you enjoy!!! ♥️☺️

But if I go nonexclusive that number goes up to 1600 copies (25% royalty), which is A LOT of copies to sell!! Even for a trad book.
The math sadly doesn’t math well for us outside of Audible 🥺 #booksky

Literally every time I see “underrated” anything on booktok, it’s a bunch of NYT bestsellers that follow 😐

You are in a fight for your life and for the lives of future generations. There is no space in that fight to have sympathy for the proverbial Devil. They want to create a catastrophe for profit, your job is to stop them. Not to understand them, heal them, or fall for the lie you can join them.

Lol. No, but they do have intimate conversations about rare books that ultimately lead to making out elsewhere 😂❤️
