Strange Antiquities by Bad Viking

i liked strange horticulture and the sequel is really just more of the same thing so i'm very satisfied. the puzzles were great, i love it when you see an element in a game and immediately your understanding expands to fit it into every corner of your discoveries.

Titane (dir. Julia Ducournau)

if you are save, and also loved in whatever way, you can be healed. it will be strange and it will hurt. you will have to leave people behind, you will have to sever connections that have felt natural until now. but it will be okay.

here's the thing they fought (it was originally a fucked up dog from an independent sourcebook i bought but they were in the ocean so i decided i'd draw a seal in the same way the dog is in the book)

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (dir. James Cameron)

this is sooooo good and it really couldn't exist without terminator 1 which i find really interesting.

also yes i cried in the end why do you ask i love it when robot 😭👍

Persepolis (dir. Marjane Satrapi, Vincent Paronnaud)

phenomenal. really just such a good film, so subtle and interesting and just. look it's an inside look on historic moments in iran. subjective perspectives like this are so valuable and need to be cherished.

also i cried through like half of it.

Ovarian Psycos (dir. Kate Trumbull-LaValle, Joanna Sokolowski)

cool

i don't really watch documentaries, maybe because i cry when i do

The Terminator (dir. James Cameron)

masterclass in minimalist storytelling. there's so little dialogue in general and yet you always know what's going on and the rising tension works great.

also love love LOVE the mix of stop motion and puppetry at the end, looks incredible even 40+ years later.

Die freudlose Gasse (dir. G.W. Pabst)

oh boy this is a tough watch. not only is the film hard to follow on purpose, it's like. realism from the mid-20s and about working class people who are starving and selling their bodies etc.
it's 100% intentional but that doesn't make its 2.5h watchable.

Garde Alternée (dir. Alexandra Leclére)

this was... interesting. i haven't 100% collected my thoughts about it. i didn't "like" it but that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just so WEIRD. which is the point kinda but i just don't know how to position myself towards it.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (dir. Sunghoo Park)

very fun. i read the manga but never watched it until now. they really turned on the yaoi for that one scene huh.

inumaki is my favourite of the 2nd years as usual. it's kinda sad panda doesn't get an episode with yuta but i guess he gets the fight later.

in a pre-hakari world (even though he was mentioned!!) choso is my no. 1 and this cinematic experience can fit so much aniki in it (choso vs naoya)

god he's so cool <33

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution (dir. Shota Goshozono)

very fun but it really isn't a movie. it's SO in the middle (second half of s2 and beginning of s3) of the story which is serial at its core that a cinematic release barely makes sense.

but the visual spectacle alone makes it super worth it to me

Eddington (dir. Ari Aster)

i'm kinda ambivalent.

bc it gets compared to bugonia i'll say i liked it more but not by much. looks good, it's definitely too long but not by as much as beau is afraid was. i thought the acting was really good.

i just didn't feel a lot.

was thinking about how the facility is so intricate, how we never seem to see the outside in the windowless rooms, and how mise en scène (and camera movement) trap us within this labyrinth. i couldn't quite grasp my own thought. until now.

wow!! so gorgeous, what a brilliant shot

The God Man (dir. Andrew Foerster)

another short i watched today bc youtube recced it after the previous.

tremendously enjoyable, touching. we're drawn into a world that is changed, yet we only really see the impact this change has on one man.

beautifully told! will watch this again for sure.

Portrait of God (dir. Syland Clark)

i have no idea what a feature based on this could even look like because it's a wonderful 7 minute short film.

it gripped me with exhilarating anxiety and it had a moment where i got so spooked that i felt my entire body recoil with abjection.

big rec!

Bend it Like Beckham (dir. Gurinder Chadha)

would've been better if it was gay but still very enjoyable. the instances of parodying "mundane" "everyday" racisms against the (british-)indian mc is very enjoyable in an ironic "i'm not that lady" way (laughing because of superiority)

deezer year thing was cute, here's my summary (tbf we only swapped to deezer a couple months ago, so i don't think the data is of the whole year)
December 1, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Joy Ride (dir. Adele Lim)

not really deep or anything but totally watchable. i didn't like the puking but i liked the pop culture stuff, especially the c-drama, that was fun. perfectly average movie, just brain-empty entertainment.

really should've said more about asian-american diaspora.

Fucking Åmål (dir. Lukas Moodysson)

maybe the first film from the coming of age seminar that's in any way relateable to my teenage experience. yeah i was totally agnes when i was 14, i was just incredibly lucky to be surrounded by SAINTS who were very patient with me lol

pretty good film overall

One Piece: Stampede (dir. Takashi Otsuka)

as a 20th anniversary project for the anime it works well. but bullet isn't a strong enough villain to make pwople. who aren't fams yet care & you need to be "in" on who usopp is to feel the emotional core.

i had a good time. crocodile is in this, so.
