Aotearoa; founder of Just Kai (justkai.org.nz); sustainability; chronic illness; she/her. I long for a world where everyone has the same opportunities I have.
Cool! I have one of her books and use it all the time. A card deck format sounds great :-)

And, as the price of cocoa is a fraction of the price of most actual chocolate, the chocolate gifts guide includes some pretty affordable options, such as the Waikato Valley range available at The Warehouse - and they're NZ made, too :-) #Kikorangi #Kai #chocolate

Brilliant!

So true! I am pretty tired and sore myself right now, but am focusing on saving up energy so I can enjoy the big day I have planned for tomorrow.

That's so wonderful - thank you for showing us :-)

Loving your snow pics from sunny Aotearoa. I've only lived through one snowy winter (in Basel, Switzerland) and it was so magical!

Here's a picture from local 'walking' beach - maybe you'll enjoy seeing something different, too.

Wonderful :-)

Yes. I have a friend who's in her 40s now, but she was homeless on the street for her final 1-2 years of high school (and still went to school).

Not exactly an achievement, but I was super-excited today to spend time at the Te Auaunga/Oakley Creek waterfall for the first time since Cyclone Gabrielle :-) I'm not 100% sure it's supposed to be open, but I didn't go through any barriers to get there and it was so nice to be back!

And there's a similar stitch around the rim of my sunhat :-) It's made from old jeans and lined with fabric from a favourite skirt that died, with plastic stiffening in the brim from those acetate sheets you get on the front of spiral bound documents.

It's not quite the same stitch, and not the best photo, but here you go :-) It holds the layers of the mits together so is mostly functional, but I wanted to jazz it up a bit.

That's rather gorgeous! And I've used that same sashiko stitch on our oven mitts :-)

I saw a mum with two little kids all on bikes on a usually-busy section of Pt Chev Rd. She was taking the opportunity to teach them basic road safety on the actual road, now that that was suddenly safe :-)

I either put them on the spool they came from or, for colours I use commonly, I just put them - loose - in the centre fold of my needlebook (and then try to remember to look there before cutting more - and forgetting often!).

Awesome! And yes, I'd wondered if the heat wave was affecting you :-(

I was delighted last week to find one as a street tree two streets over from my new apartment - and covered in ripe fruit, that neither the birds nor humans seemed interested in!

In Tāmaki Makaurau I feel like the pōhutukawa have way more buds on than average. I make cordial from the flowers each year so watch them moderately closely.

So sorry. Praying you get relief soon.
