He's modeled on the guy parodied in The Man Who Came to Dinner, whose name I'm blanking on. And the fat shaming in the book is so overt and weird. There's even a passage where they make fun of his pointy eyeballs.

I got behind on The Juniper Tree by Barbara Comyns, but am back. Her childlike narrators who are free of malice are captivating. Then to find two of my faves mentioned--3rd Man, ice cream? Hey, October 8 is the anniversary of Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane, two of my favorite fictional characters from the Lord Peter Wimsey novels by Dorothy L. Sayers!
I'm off to determine if they wed in 1935, 36 or 37. Or, get back to writing my research paper, where I discovered this delightful fact!

My low-stakes high-fun summer project ended last night w Michael Mann's bonkers The Keep, the final film in @trylon.org 's "Nazis: We Hate these Guys!" 8 first watches, 7 rewatches. Delighted with Shock Waves & All Through the Night, annoyed w/ Where Eagles Dare & Valkyrie, new joy in some old faves

Blue and green movie tickets, a punch card and the Trylon's summer 2025 brochure with a picture of Indiana Jones punching a Nazi, all on a brown/green patterned tablecloth. Also, a tiny fragment of popcorn from when I emptied out my bag.
