He's modeled on the guy parodied in The Man Who Came to Dinner, whose name I'm blanking on. And the fat shaming in the book is so overt and weird. There's even a passage where they make fun of his pointy eyeballs.

I got behind on The Juniper Tree by Barbara Comyns, but am back. Her childlike narrators who are free of malice are captivating. Then to find two of my faves mentioned--3rd Man, ice cream? Bliss "we heard chimes playing a few bars from the Harry Lime theme & Tommy ran to catch the ice cream van" 65

Hey, October 8 is the anniversary of Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane, two of my favorite fictional characters from the Lord Peter Wimsey novels by Dorothy L. Sayers!
I'm off to determine if they wed in 1935, 36 or 37. Or, get back to writing my research paper, where I discovered this delightful fact!
